PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I would like to welcome back to this great club all returning committee, coaching staff, players and parents and a big welcome to the first timers.

Unfortunately, the weather has been against us and we haven’t been able to get the players on to the training paddock but I am sure this will improve soon. These conditions are tough for coaching staff so please be patient, they’ll do their best given the circumstances and the limited training facilities.

Congratulations to those that have volunteered their time and joined the Committee for the 2020 season. It is a tough job, long hours and sometimes not many hands to assist. However, when you watch the Under 6’s play on a Saturday morning you realise the effort is well and truly worth it. Also, realising that without your dedication and hard work around 300 kids wouldn’t be playing this great game.

I would also like to thank those that have joined the coaching staff ranks, This can also be a tough job and requires a lot of time and effort to be put in, its sometimes thankless but is extremely rewarding.

To the mums and dads, thank you for putting your faith in this great club to give your boys and girls every opportunity to learn and improve their skills in the game of Rugby League.

This year, all teams will be playing in a retro jersey which is very exciting. The jersey is a replica of one used in the 80’s and reflects 40 years of Rugby League history for Lower Mountains JRLC.

We are an all-inclusive club and we welcome ideas and thoughts from any of our members. We took this to another level last year with our end of season survey and I am pleased to announce that the 2 most suggested changes have been taken on board by your committee. These being:

  • Introduction of a Fundraising Levy which replaces all fundraising activities including the Chocolate drive. All registered players will now be issued with 3 raffle tickets which you can sell to recoup the cost or keep the tickets and have 3 chances at winning one of the 3 prizes!
  • Improving the presentation day. A number of members who answered the survey thought the presentation needed a facelift so our Treasurer, Jason Sargent has taken up the challenge and he has told me it will be a spectacular and “watch this space”.

The recent announcement of the Glenbrook Bowling Club coming onboard as our major sponsor is very exciting. We are looking forward to working with them this season. Their sponsorship will assist the club with providing facilities to give our players the best opportunity to play and improve the greatest game of all.

The Club’s canteen is our biggest fundraiser and our Committee do an outstanding job to make this happen. However, without the help of our mums and dads in the canteen and on the BBQ it is not possible.

Last year the help we received was excellent and I thank all those that put their hand up. Obviously, the more help we get the more funds we will raise for the club to be able to spend on our players.

Please don’t forget the club’s wonderful Committee are volunteers and give up their time and weekends for the players to get them on the field so if you see someone that needs a hand it would be great if you could help.

Likewise, if you have any issues or have an idea you would like the committee to look at, please don’t hesitate to bring it to us. The Committee is made up of mums and dads and are and more than happy to discuss anything which will help improve the club.

Once again welcome to the 2020 season. Once we get past this wet weather and get back on the field, I believe we will have a fun and very successful season both on and off the field!

My last and most important message to remember that we are all here to make sure our players get the best opportunity to learn and play the great game of Rugby League in a safe and enjoyable environment.
